HECTOR HOUSEHOLD :: 1920’S BUNGALOW REMODEL :: DASH’S ROOM

I cannot start a post with all of that yellow, so we shall start with an after.  Dash’s room did not require a ton of work.  We had the chimney plastered and of course refinished the hardwood floors but the main project was paint and decor.  I knew I wanted timeless “boy” elements with items that Dash wouldn’t necessarily grow out of quickly.  I never really start a room with a color scheme, I find things I love, put them together and it usually comes together. I don’t think that necessarily says anything about my decorating skills but that I tend to like the same colors etc.

For this room I started with the yellow thrift store spray-painted bookshelf <3 and the Elephant curtains from Overstock here.  The blue dresser and the grey dresser (from my uncle that has passed) were refinished by my talented friend Kim Koons from ReFind.   I have many items of furniture in my home that are very special to me.  I believe that those things pull everything together as well as make my heart happy when I see them. Dash loves his room and all the storage for Legos and such!  I stained and painted the captains bed from a glossy orange varnished wood.  I love those finds (no one else wants) that you can remake into something great.
